The Aqara U500 Smart Rim Lock is designed specifically for homes with traditional rim lock setups, allowing users to upgrade to smart access control without replacing the existing lock body. Its surface-mounted design simplifies installation while maintaining the security and reliability of a conventional rim lock system.
Powered by Matter over Thread, the U500 seamlessly integrates with major smart home ecosystems including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, Home Assistant, and the Aqara ecosystem. It also supports Apple Home Key, enabling users to unlock their doors effortlessly using an iPhone or Apple Watch, even when the device is offline or out of battery.
Security is enhanced through a high-resolution fingerprint sensor capable of storing up to 50 fingerprints with locally encrypted AES data protection. Users can also create passwords, temporary access credentials, NFC authentication, remote unlocking, and voice-controlled access for greater flexibility in managing entry permissions.
Built for long-term durability, the U500 features a solid metal construction, reinforced dual-hook latches, IP65 weather-resistant exterior protection, automatic locking via a built-in gyroscope sensor, and up to 7 months of battery life from four AA batteries. Emergency USB-C charging ensures access even when battery power is depleted.
